Reopening with Covid-19 – the new normal.

The UK government advised hotels and venues could open up from lock down, as long as they comply to COVID-19 guidance.

What does this mean in real life terms for a dinner or stay at your favourite hotel? Your experience pre March 2020 will not be the same experience from July 2020.

Many  aspects of your visit will change and below are a few examples.

Check in: social distancing will apply, possible App check in, limited help with luggage, temperature checks, screens , no cookies. Later check in times.  Limited numbers in lifts.

Bedrooms : Single use toiletries. No cushions, Throws, stationary, mini bar.

Housekeeping : rooms only cleaned after your departure ie no linen change during stay. Rooms let on a rota basis, to allow for Covid – 19 cleaning, so your favourite room may not be available.

Food and Beverage:

Restaurant: table service only, order by app, limited menus.  No buffets. No walk ins        No table cloths or laid tables, i.e cutlery  and condiments brought to the table with your order.  No “all you can eat style service for food and drink ”

Some hotels are only offering  room service (left outside your room)

Breakfast : no buffets, table service only or “Grab and Go”, boxed breakfasts.

Bar: Table service only. Pre book a table.

Check out :  App or remote check out. No cash.

While these changes will mean a different visit, all hospitality venues have worked hard to be COVID- 19 compliant, implementing new cleaning regimes, signing up to and being awarded Code of practice certification for various trade bodies ie “We’re good to go” by Visit England to ensure your visit can be as safe as possible for you and their staff.

NOTE :  we need to point out that not all hotels and venues have chosen to open or can open and be in compliance and  there is no set of agreed procedures and each hotel, group and venue may apply the rules slightly differently. We are keeping a log of each groups published data.
